the Laws of the Colony.
47 & 49 Des Voeux Road.
HongKong, 3rd. September, 1900.
The Honourable,
Sir John W.Carrington, Knt.,C.M.G., L.L.D.,
Sir,
In compliance with your Minute of
the 27th.ultimo, we have the honour to submit the accom-
panying estimates of cost (Numberal to VII) or printing and
binding respectively, a new edition of the laws of the Co-
lony.
2. The only item that occurs to
us which calls for remark is one relating to the cost of
paper. We are bound by our agreement with the Government
to supply paper, free of cost to Government, for printing the Ordinances from time to time passed by the Legislative Council. The paper which your Honour requires for the spec-
ial edition will be much more expensive than that used for
the annual volumes. Be therefore respectfully submit that
we should be paid for such difference in the respective
cost of the two qualities of paper.. We beg leave to request
that in forwarding our estimates to H.E. the Governor, your
Honour will be kind enough to take into account the fair-
ness of our request and recommend its favourable consid-
eration by His Excellency accordingly.
3. We retain for the present the vo-
lume sent us as a pattern.
We are etc.,
